Exercise 6 - The mass of the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way
We find the mass of the black hole of the centre of the Milky Way by using observations of stellar orbits around the centre. These observations are fitted to ellipses and thereby through the use of Keplerian motion and Newtonian mechanics the mass of the black hole can be found. This exercise also includes a discussion of the nature of black holes.
